Grief and loss
Grief is a normal response to any loss in your life.
It could be the loss of a loved one, a job, a relationship or anything that has meaning to you. Talking with someone about these experiences, and finding strategies specific to your situation, can be the first step towards healing. Melanie has experience in supporting and finding hope with those facing grief and loss from a range of issues in her hospital chaplaincy role, since 2004 and in her therapist role.
Pet loss
The bond with pets is often deep and significant. Their loss can be keenly felt.
Talking with a counsellor can be useful for exploring these emotions, especially when it feels like others may not understand the depth of your loss. Counselling sessions can help you find meaningful ways of remembering your pets, in a way that is significant to you. Melanie has always loved animals and understands the significant role they play in our lives, and the grief you may feel at their loss.
Life changes
Life brings many changes – some are welcome, some are not.
A counsellor can help you with strategies for navigating these transitions. This might be helpful when entering new life stages such as change in your schooling, career, divorce, or starting retirement (forced or voluntary). Melanie has experience in navigating life changes both personally and professionally and looks forward to supporting you.
Co-parenting when living apart (relationship issues)
Any type of relationship may be difficult to navigate at times. However, co-parenting after separation can be particularly difficult.
The stressors of life can impact our relationships with our children, co-parent and our current partner. We may not know how best to work through and resolve the issues. Individual therapy can assist in sorting through your feelings and thoughts, processing your emotions and finding the best way forward. In addition to Melanie’s professional experience, she has also worked hard to navigate relationships, finding helpful strategies and ways forward that are available to support your relationship journey.
Pricing and structure.
Counselling sessions are available online (Zoom) or via telephone. Face to face counselling is not offered at this time.
Standard sessions are one hour. This includes 50 minutes client-time, at $80 per session.
