Best Life Counselling is committed to providing you with a quality counselling service and upholding your client rights under Australian law and in line with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics. These terms of service outline the nature, scope and limits of our service.
Best Life Counselling is an online counselling service, delivered by professionally trained counsellors. All counsellors have a duty of care and comply with their professional association’s code of ethics. Best Life Counselling work under the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics. This includes privacy protection of your information and what is discussed within the counselling session. The exception to this privacy policy is when the counsellor has been advised or alerted to a risk of harm to the client or to others, they will need to disclose the information to relevant authorities including doctors, police, or caregivers. Collection of your personal information is taken by you or your legal representative with consent in the form of online intake forms, during the counselling session, by telephone or email. Best Life Counselling will only ask and record information that is required to deliver counselling services to you. As part of your counselling service, we may be provided with information by third parties (such as your healthcare service). We will take every reasonable step to ensure that you are made aware of this information. The privacy of your personal information is important to us regarding your online and electronic and written or printed data. Your online session is hosted on an Australian based server that complies with Australian data protection standards. Written and printed material is kept secure in accordance with the ACA privacy standards. However, we cannot guarantee 100% security. If your personal or contact information changes, we ask you to inform a staff member to ensure we continue to provide a quality service to you.
Best Life Counselling may provide links on our website to other services. We are not responsible for the content or privacy policy of these sites.
You are entitled to access your information held by us. If you wish to access your information, you must lodge a written request via email at melanie@bestlifecounselling.net.au detailing your name, address, and clear identification of the information you wish to access. If you are applying on behalf of another person, your authority to do so is also required. We are not required to give you access to your information if; it would be unlawful to do so, denying access is required or authorised by an Australian law or a court/tribunal order, or: to do so would likely prejudice one or more enforcement related activities conducted by, or on behalf of an enforcement body.
Complaints about this service can be made to the Christian Counselling Association of Australia (CCAA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
